Eagan, ranked among the metro area's top 10 teams, scored three goals in an eight-minute flurry early in the second half and held on for a 3-2 win over the Tigers Friday, Sept. 2 in Eagan.
The Wildcats used their speed to their advantage in the first half, outshooting the Tigers 12-1, but still found themselves trailing 1-0 at intermission. Alyssa Parco scored the Tiger goal on an assist from Devyn Alberts.
Eagan went on its three-goal run after the break, but the Tigers came back to control play the final 20 minutes. Alberts' sixth goal of the season on an assist from Gabby White accounted for the final Farmington point.
"Devyn is really one of the best players in the state," Tigers coach Rob Carpentier said. "She was physically beaten up the entire game and was still the best player on the field."
Carpentier said he was proud of his girls comeback against one of the better teams in the area.
"We could have packed it in when we got down two goals," he said. "Eagan barely lost to Woodbury the other night, so now I think our girls know when they play physically and mentally the way they are capable, they can play with anyone in the state."
