The good news is that the Tigers broke out of their five-match slide where they failed to score a point in a dual meet played Friday, Sept. 17, at Bloomington Kennedy.
The bad news is that it was just one point in a 6-1 non-conference loss to the Eagles.
"I can't say it was a moral victory," coach Jack Olwell said, "but we enjoyed this match more than most. We had some outstanding chances to win at two or three positions."
The Farmington point came at second singles where Meghan Lindstrom played one of her best matches of the season in a 6-1, 6-4 win.
Two Tiger doubles teams were also in position to win but couldn't finish. The duo of Danielle Froehling and Katie Burgess led 4-0 in the first set in a 5-7, 3-6 loss and the No. 3 tandem of Jessica Autey and Rachel Molitor played well in a 4-6, 6-7(2) defeat.
"We may have played our best match of the year," Olwell said. "We knew that we had to have a lot of things go right for us to win and for awhile it looked like that might happen."
