Senior captain Alaina Trowbridge scored the game's only goal midway through the second half to give the Tigers a 1-0, non-conference win over Hastings, Tuesday night, Sept. 8, at Tiger Stadium.
According to coach Rob Carpentier, the contest mirrored last year's 1-0 loss to the Raiders, a game ultimately decided by a penalty kick.
"We outshot them badly tonight, just like we did last year," he said. "I think the main difference is that our players have matured so much since then. They have become mentally tough and have shown the ability to dig down and make the big play when they need it."
The Tigers controlled the ball most of the game and had several good scoring opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net. Part of that was due to a swirling northwest wind that made every pass and shot an adventure.
"We could have just as easily had five more goals," Carpentier said.
Trowbridge netted the game-winner by slamming home a crossing pass from Alyssa Parco who had carried the ball from midfield down the right sideline.
Junior goalkeeper Taylor Meyer had a quiet night in net, finishing with five saves while posting her third win of the season.
The victory raised Farmington's season record to 3-2.
