Farmington upped its regular season record to 3-1 with a 2-1 non-conference victory over Hastings Tuesday night, Sept. 7, at windy Tiger Stadium.
Zach Wyatt scored his first goal of the season from a tough corner angle 5:20 into the contest to give the Tigers a lead they would not surrender.
Farmingon led 1-0 at the break and then added an insurance goal early in the second half when Cole Landwehr capped a four-man rush featuring several crisp exchanges.
Sweeper Sam Leske took the ball to midfield, hit Blake Smith who dumped the ball off to Justen Thelen out front. Thelen's shot was deflected by a Raider defender but the senior captain controlled the rebound and got it to Landwehr who headed the ball into the back of the net.
"The boys did a good job of controlling the pace of the game," coach Julian Buss said. "They had some really nice, crisp passes that resulted in quite a few scoring opportunities despite the low score."
Buss also lauded the continued strong play of goalkeeper Chad Stivers who posted his third win of the season with five saves.
