Farmington dominated play most of the night in its 3-0 shutout (25-22, 25-17, 25-21) home victory over the Albert Lea Tigers Monday night, Sept. 13.
The win in the non-conference "Battle of the Tigers" raised Farmington's season record to 4-2.
"The scores were a little closer than the games appeared," Farmington coach Mike Woody said. "We held big leads in the first and third games before giving up a lot of points late. The second game was pretty close before we pulled away down the stretch.
Katie Habeck turned in another dominating performance for the winners with 25 serve receptions, 18 kills, 16 digs and five blocks.
Jordan Bridges was a force at the net with six blocks and five kills and also served up three aces. Brook King recorded 11 digs and 10 serve receptions while setter Haylee Lundquist had 16 assists.
Woody tried an experiment in game three by moving Habeck from middle to left side hitter and said the strategy paid some dividends.
"It worked pretty well and is something we might do on nights when we aren't passing very well," he said.
