The on-and-off offense produced just five first downs and two critical errors on special teams led directly to Chanhassen touchdowns as the Storm defeated the Tigers 20-0 Friday, Sept. 17, in Chanhassen.
The loss dropped Farmington's season record to 1-2; 1-1 in Missota Conference play.
"We did some pretty good things," coach Mark Froehling said. "I thought our pass protection was good and our defense played well even though some miscues on special teams gave us bad field position.
"We didn't sustain drives on offense because our blocking wasn't what it needs to be and we were not consistent in throwing or catching the ball when we had the opportunities."
The Storm built a 14-0 halftime lead with both scores coming as a result of errant snaps out of punt formation inside the Farmington 25-yard line. The Tigers had another punt blocked deep in its own territory before the defense got the ball back on a Sebren Baer pass interception.
Chanhassen added an insurance score in the fourth period to close out the scoring.
The Farmington offense that rushed for 276 yards in the previous week's win over Red Wing managed just 31 against the Storm. Workhorse CJ Record accounted for 29 on 17 carries.
Sophomore quarterback Darren Beenken threw 21 times and completed nine for 111 yards with a pair of interceptions. Austin Bassett had three catches for 25 yards; Dayne Eich two for 57 and Alex Chadwick two for 19.
Tommy Korbein led a defense that was on the field much of the night with 10 tackles. Eric McWright totaled eight, Blake Weinand six and Jake Mendela five.
This Friday, Sept. 24, the Tigers head to Shakopee to take on the unbeaten Sabers (3-0) who defeated Chaska 37-14 Friday night.
